Celia Micklefield trying to look like an author

Welcome to my author website. I’m glad you found me. You may have read some of my short stories or novels already. Here on my website I’d like to tell you more about myself and my work as well as upload further stories for you to enjoy.

NEW NOVEMBER 12TH 2023

Trobairitz – her story continues

Trobairitz book two
the second book in the Trobairitz series

Fleur, who prefers the nickname Weed, is on the road again, travelling the country and telling her stories at the overnight truck stop.

In Montalhan sans Vents there is further conflict and more disappointment for mayor Henri-Claude Noilly. New characters bring scandal, a romantic wedding and a funeral.

Changes at TransAngelus mean even more work for Weed, taking her away from the places she loves for extended periods, but there may be a hint of romance if only Jimi didn’t annoy her so much.

Please visit my PUBLISHED BOOKS page for details of all my books and links to where you’ll find them..

Short stories.  Not all my short stories are women’s magazine material. I enjoy writing for readers of women’s magazines but I have a dark side. I can’t resist endings that are unexpected, even shocking. I also enjoy writing comedy. Sometimes the two combine. The result is often a story of the funny peculiar variety – dark humour. Blame the Yorkshire weather I grew up with.

I love plenty of variety in the books I choose to read and in what I choose to write. It’s the same with food. I love fancy meals with rich sauces but occasionally all I want is beans on toast.

Variety is the spice of my life. My posts are under the heading Blog. You’ll see a variety of subjects there, too. I’m writing about writing and about reading. I used to write about living in France while I was there. Now I live in Norfolk, England and I’m putting together ideas for a regular Norfolk post about the unique setting of this part of the country.

I have a condition called CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) diagnosed after I was knocked down by a careless driver. I write about CRPS in my Blog to help raise awareness of this painful condition

  1. Hello Celia, you may remember me from a few years back – I wrote a crit or two for you through youwriteon (I think). I see you have been busy and I am impressed by your self promo. Did you ever find a publisher or are all books self-published? I too have been busy, but unable to find an agent / publisher. If interested, you can find me at: https://ivorthomas.info/ I will try one of your books. Which should I start with? Cheers and congratulations, IVOR

    1. Hello there, Ivor,
of course I remember you. Your writing entertained me no end. Thank you for getting in touch. You noticed I’ve been doing a lot of self promotion lately. I do as much as I’m able which is sometimes nothing at all. I have this bloody condition called CRPS – a neurological chronic pain that never leaves me alone. On good days I write as much as I can.
All my work is self-published and it’s so difficult trying to find the ‘right’ readers. You can’t really call any of my books genre fiction but a few reviewers have decided it’s contemporary literary fiction. I like to be a bit creative with my narrative schemes and my characters are always complex. I love reading multi-layered books and I’m not averse to dual timelines. There’s more to get your teeth into.
Are you still in Spain? I had to leave my home in France when I discovered my partner was having an affair with a woman in the village – long story – I wrote a book about it.
I wouldn’t know which of my books to recommend to you because they’re all different.Trobairitz the Storyteller brought some good feedback from male readers, so maybe that might appeal to you.
Great to hear from you. I’ll look out for you online.
      Best wishes,
      Celia

  3. Site is really looking good – well done! Always such a challenge when technical things don’t work out the way you want them to – one feels so helpless and it is frightening how they can turn one’s world upside down. Hope Spring is showing its head and those creative juices are flowing again. xxxx

    1. Thank you, Suzy. It’s always lovely to hear from you.
I miss all my fancy sidebars but I’m leaving them alone until I’m sure they’re compatible with this new upgrade.
Yes, spring is on its way and I’m looking forward to publishing at least two books this year – another collection of short stories and a new novel. Writing is such a joy and also an affliction – I don’t feel whole without it.
      Cheers to you and yours!

  4. Hello Celia. I like your website. Can relate to the stress and frustration of setting one up. Have sort of got mine set up with a book blog. At least its out there 🙂 I’m another retired writer working on her first full length novel. Have written history for the past 18 years as a heritage consultant in Western Australia – nothing like the long life heritage of Europe of course. Am following on twitter and look forward to reading more.

  9. I just read your blog and am very impressed at how knowledgeble you are and your attention to detail. I was also impressed that you included some personality to your blog rather than the same old robotic writing I see from everyone else. We would love to have you write us a WebWatcher article eventually. regzooka review
